Our 1st assembly for the year will be held tomorrow at 2pm in the Church. We couldn’t have it last week due to swimming sports. After this week our normal fortnightly schedule of assemblies will resume – check the school calendar!

The Prime Minister announced this afternoon that we will be returning to Covid Alert Level 1 at 11.59pm tonight. 


This means that drop off and pick up procedures will return to normal tomorrow.


School will start at 8.45am and finish at 2.45pm.

Thanks for your support with our Alert Level 2 procedures at the start of the school day today, it was a smooth start to the day.



We will keep you up to date regularly with how Alert Level 2 affects school events. At this stage please note:



Postponements:


The Cultural Committee Meet & Greet this afternoon (Monday 15 February) is postponed and will be rescheduled once we are back in Alert Level 1
The Commissioning Mass at the Cathedral tomorrow evening has been postponed
We will not be attending Ash Wednesday Mass 


Upcoming Events:


Some upcoming events may still be able to proceed under Alert Level 2 guidelines. We will keep you informed about the Year 4-8 Swimming Sports this Friday; we will make decisions about spectators based on how the covid situation unfolds over the next few days.

At St Joseph’s we are always looking for ways to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures in our school. We invite you to a social occasion to connect with families from the wide range of cultural backgrounds at our school, and to find out more about our Cultural Committee.

Remember that there are “Team Information Sessions” being held at school tomorrow afternoon – Tuesday 9 February.
Come along to meet the teaching teams, find out about how learning is organised for your child’s age level, and find out about upcoming events for the term in each syndicate.
The times of the meetings are staggered to allow families to attend each session if necessary, and the sessions will be repeated twice as follows:
Yr 0-3 3.00 – 3.25pm in Matatipu
Yr 4-6 3.30 – 3.55pm in Room 8
Yr 7-8 4.00 – 4.25 pm in Room 1
Yr 0-3 4.30 – 4.55pm in Matatipu
Yr 4-6 5.00 – 5.25pm in Room 8
Yr 7-8 5.30 – 5.55pm in Room 1

St Joseph’s Catholic School will no longer be offering LunchOrders as an option each day.


We will be starting a new ordering system within the next week and we are teaming up with St Pierres Sushi to bring some new lunch option to your children. We are also talking to Subway to find out if that is also another possibility.

Seesaw

Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students.The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.

Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.

Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
